About Eaton
Living up to my surname, I am a 20-year-old student studying in Glasgow with a healthy appetite for all things edible.
Hailing from the Granite City, Aberdeen’s dining scene originally mirrored its namesake – grey, dull and less
than extraordinary. Moving to Glasgow for university two years ago was the
biggest shock to my tastebuds since I discovered the joys of raspberry jam in a
bacon buttie (trust me on this one). No longer was I confined to the monotony
of chain restaurant after chain restaurant, which I had endured for the previous
18 years. Now I have enough pop-ups, start-ups and one-offs on my doorstep to satisfy
my new-found obsession with instagrammable cuisine.
Glasgow, in general, tends to avoid the outrageous price
tags associated with its sweet yet tedious sister, Edinburgh. With a little savvy
initiative, you can dine like a king in this zesty city for less than you’d
spend on a Wednesday night in Shimmy. I’ve tried my best to avoid any filet mignon, oysters or lobster(can always obligingly suggest
these as a dinner option when your parents come to visit…) and focus on the more
SAAS-friendly spots.
Two years since moving here, I have barely made a dint in my
Glasgow foodie hit list. But of course, I have a repertoire of favourite spots
and in creating this blog, I aim to share them with any fellow peckish yet
penny-conscious students in a go-to guide from brunch with your flatmates, to
something tasty to nurse that hangover.
